{ } How the crop works
The tool sets each page’s crop box — the rectangle a viewer displays and a printer prints — inset by your percentage on every side. Nothing is redrawn or re-encoded, so text stays selectable and the file size barely changes. Because the content outside the box is hidden rather than deleted, another tool can restore it: do not use crop to remove confidential content.
{ } Choosing the amount
- The value is a percentage of the page’s width (left and right) and height (top and bottom): 5 % on A4 trims about 10 mm from the sides and 15 mm from the top and bottom.
- Up to 49 % can be trimmed from each edge; 0 % is rejected because it would do nothing.
- The same amount applies to every page and every edge — per-edge or per-page cropping is not offered.
- The trim is measured from the page’s full media box.

- Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
- To rotate pages as well, run Rotate PDF before or after — the two tools do not interfere.

- The same percentage is trimmed from all four edges of every page. Neither individual pages nor individual edges can be set separately.
- Sets the page crop box: the trimmed area is hidden in most viewers but is not deleted from the file, and some tools can reveal it.
