Edit PDF

PDF Metadata Viewer

Read a PDF’s document properties (page count, title, author, dates, producer) as JSON you can explore or download.

PDF file

Choose a file to convert. It's processed locally — never uploaded. Tip: add several files to convert them all at once.

Output

Result appears here after you select

{ } What is read

The values come from the document information dictionary, exactly as stored. The file is opened without updating anything, so the producer and modification date you see are the ones already in the file — not ones added by this tool, which is what a careless viewer would show you.

  • Page count.
  • Title, author, subject and keywords — the fields a word processor or scanner filled in, often without asking.
  • Creator (the application that made the document) and producer (the library that wrote the PDF).
  • Creation and modification dates, shown in ISO 8601 (UTC).

{ } What is not read

  • The XMP metadata packet, if present, is not parsed separately — in most files it repeats the same values.
  • Page content is not scanned: a name printed on a page is not metadata.
  • Metadata attached to individual images or annotations.

{ } Output and next step

The result is JSON you can view as a tree, copy, or download as metadata.json; a field that is not set shows as null. To strip these properties, run Remove PDF Metadata — then open the cleaned file here again to confirm every field is empty.

{ } How it works

PDF Metadata Viewer works on the file you upload. Select Process ▸ and it runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server — then shows the result in the Output panel.

Input

  • PDF file — upload a file (.pdf); it is read locally in your browser

Output

JSON — copy it, download it, or switch the Output panel to Tree view to explore it.

{ } Common uses

  • Check who or what produced a PDF.
  • Review title, author, and dates before sharing a file.
  • Export the properties as JSON for your records.

{ } Limitations

  • Read-only viewer — use Remove PDF Metadata to strip these properties.
  • Reads the document information dictionary; it does not scan the visible page content.
