Convert a PDF to images — and images back to a PDF
When to export pages as PNG or JPG, how resolution and quality trade off, and how to build a PDF from photos.
Turning PDF pages into images (and photos into a PDF) is one of the most common round-trips — for slides, thumbnails, previews, or emailing a scan.
PDF → PNG or JPG?
- PNG: lossless and sharp — best for pages with text, diagrams, or fine lines.
- JPG: smaller for photo-heavy pages, with an adjustable quality setting.
Resolution matters
The scale setting controls how many pixels each page renders to. 1× is fine for on-screen previews; 2× is a good default; 3× suits printing or zooming in. Higher scale means sharper images and larger files.
Images → PDF
Going the other way, you can drop several images into one PDF, choose the page size and orientation, and decide whether each image fits inside the page or fills it. This is the quick way to turn a stack of photos or scans into a single shareable document.
Rendering and assembly both happen locally — your pages and photos are never uploaded.
